Men's Facility Living Room
History
In 2003, a single female of two found out that one of her close family members had tested positive for Human Immunodeficiency Virus, also known as HIV. The discovery of this life changing disease alarmed her and motivated her to search for aid, support, and information to help this diagnosed family member. She feared the rejection, contagion, and ignorance that her relative might face from other family members and society in general. She was determined to make a difference in the lives of people living with HIV/AIDS (Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome) that were in need of this support and service.
X-Tending Hands, Inc. is an organization founded by a person who wanted to give distinct and accessible HIV/AIDS healthcare while also providing a program that includes supportive services and housing for the multicultural needs of the communities in Central Florida: Orange County, Seminole County, Lake County, and Osceola County.
Today, X-Tending Hands, Inc. is a nonprofit organization under the laws of the Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c)(3). This community-based minority HIV/AIDS organization provides referrals for substance abuse, supportive services, healthcare, community advocacy, transportation, and food services. X-Tending Hands vision continues to provide cutting edge health and wellness education for participants and recipients while incorporating cultural, linguistic, and age-sensitive programming and services. X-Tending Hands, Inc. continues to be mindful of enhancement initiatives by approaching every improvement not only in our organization but also with the HIV/AIDS community.
